Violet (Vi) Jeane Crews went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family. Vi was born in Galena, Kansas on November 22, 1927. She attended Pittsburg State University and received her degree in Biology and Chemistry. She was a homecoming queen, a cheerleader, a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, and was selected to be in Who's Who of American Universities and Colleges. She also attended Rutgers University and received her Master's Degree from the University of Houston. Vi was a reading specialist in public schools and a biofeedback specialist of the University of Houston. She served her local church in the many states in which she lived, as a deacon, a Stephen minister, Sunday School teacher, elder, circle leader and small group leader. She had a tremendous gift of hospitality and was everybody's friend, and loved to tell a funny story. Vi was most recently a member of Grace Community Church, and passed a legacy of faith and love for Jesus Christ to all who knew her.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Alberta Hall, her daughter, Connie Parker and her brother, Norman Hall. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Crews, a daughter, Cyndy Parkman and her husband Bob, as well as her brother, Bill Hall and his wife Judy, and grandchildren Daniel Parker, Angela Jarvis, Heather Buchanan, Jessica Parkman and Scott Parkman. She also leaves two great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Vi's life will be held at Grace Community Church in Noblesville, IN, on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Visitation will be at 10:00AM, followed by a service at 11:00AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Grace Community Church.
