Walter Kenneth Hinrichs , 90, of Indianapolis, went home to God on the afternoon of Friday, December 18, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 19, 1930 to Arthur William and Edith Theresa (Johnson) Hinrichs in Chicago, Illinois.
Walter earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Albion College in Michigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. Walter worked as a salesman of analytical instrumentation, and retired from Hewlett Packard in sales management. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville, and in previous Presbyterian churches where he was member, served as a deacon, and volunteered in many activities. He enjoyed golfing and collecting coins. If you asked Walter, his 2 favorite subjects were his wife, Margarete and his time of service the Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana Lynn (Kendell) Roberts; son, Paul Richard (PJ) Hinrichs; granddaughter, Chelsea Marie (Jacob) Curtis; great-grandson, Jacob Curtis II; sister, Vera Jean Allen; as well as several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Margarete Hinrichs in 2017; and his grandson, Jacob Walter Hinrichs in 2005.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville, 1207 Conner Street, Noblesville, Indiana. A private family internment will be held at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana at a later date.
