It is with great sadness that the family of Warren Francis Hales, 92 years young, of Noblesville announces that he passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 7, 2013, with many of his family members by his side. He was born November 22, 1920 to Henry Francis and Minnie Jane (Roller) Hales in Gary, IN.
Warren retired from US Steel, after 43 years; and was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary. On April 15, 1943 he married Mary E. Treadway in Kansas City, MO. She preceded him in death in 2006. Warren was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many. He was a WWII US Army Veteran, Signal Corp. in the South Pacific. He was very active in community projects in Gary, and Crown Point. He was a very proud teacher of prisoners helping them to attain their GED. He was also active in the Senior Citizen Groups in Crown Point, Merrillville and Noblesville. He loved to play bridge and socialize.
He is survived by his five sons, James (Janet) Hales of Elkhart, David (Lavonne) Hales of Hilton Head, SC, Jeffrey (Lynne) Hales of Carmel, Douglas (Kathy) Hales of Noblesville, Kim (Sarah) Hales of Snohomish, WA; daughter, Cindy (Marty) Britten of Kokomo; sister, Shirley Isolampi of Merrillville; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by brothers, Homer & Robert Hales; and daughter-in-laws, Janet Hales & Brenda Hales.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to the Senior Citizen Centers in Crown Point, Merrillville, or Noblesville.
