Wayland Villars

Wayland Michael Villars, 4, of Noblesville, went to Heaven after a courageous battle with (D.I.P.G) Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma on Friday, August 9, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 24, 2008 to Benjamin and Amber (Kozicki) Villars in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Wayland (Dubbs) attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a gentle and loving big brother to Amelia. He loved playing with her and teaching her how to be brave. As his disease progressed, his desire to be affectionate with her did not change. He faced all of his treatments with bravery. He learned to accept everything, from the travel to the "pokes" and "mask", always doing them when he was ready.
Dubbs loved Mario, Spiderman, playing games on the IPad, and of course, his main love toward the end was Baby Einstein. He loved playing with toy characters and would incorporate them all as he watched his favorite shows and movies. Before DIPG robbed him of his physical abilities, he loved to be active. He especially loved swimming, waterslides, playing chase, and hide & seek. We will miss his humor, kindness, and playful spirit. He is truly an inspiration. We love you Dubbs!!
We simply cannot name all those who have supported us, but we would especially like to thank our family, friends, and all of Wayland's Warriors. We would also like to thank all of Wayland's healthcare teams at Riley, Lucille Packard's Children Hospital, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. We would especially like to thank Dr. Monje and the Stanford Research team, where we have donated his tumor for continued research.
He is survived by his parents Benjamin and Amber Villars; sister, Amelia Villars; grandparents, Pat and Joe Kozicki; grandfather, Michael Villars; aunts, Anne (Tim) Zacher, Karri Spanbauer, Jenny (Matt) Zacher, Emily (Paul) Witte, Sara (Chuck) Dombrowski, Abby (Nate) Griepentrog; uncle, Damon (Lori) Kozicki; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandmother, Wendy Villars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, in Noblesville, with Rev. Tom Metzger officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
