Wayne Quate

R. Wayne Quate, 83, Noblesville, died peacefully at home on October 26, 2011. Wayne was born May 1, 1928 in Muncie, Indiana, the only child of Martha Ann (Prigg) Quate and Earl Ray Quate, who predecease him.
Wayne was a loving husband for 61 beautiful years to Shirley Burch Quate, who survives him. They raised three daughters, Amy of San Jose, Julie of Noblesville, and Sue of Hatboro, PA; and two grandsons, Jeff and Cole.
Wayne, a graduate of Muncie Central High School, attended Ball State University, the University of Southern California, and graduated from General Motors Institute. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later in the Air Force Reserves. Wayne began his career as a claims adjuster in 1954 and retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance in 1993. He was honored as the Indiana Adjuster of the Year in 1989.
Wayne had a long history of civic involvement. He was founding president of the Lafayette, Indiana Breakfast Optimist Club and later served as Lt. Governor of Optimist International. He was the founding president of the Indiana Fire Adjuster's Association, and a member of the Central Indiana Claims Assoc, the Indiana Adjuster's Assoc., and a life member of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. He served two terms as Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Lodge 576. Wayne was also a member of the American Legion Post 45 and a member and elder of The First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville.
Wayne delighted us with his wry sense of humor and his friends and family members are grateful for the time shared with him. We will miss him greatly.
An informal wake to celebrate Wayne's life and share stories will be held at the Noblesville Elks Lodge (35 S. 9th St.) on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
