William Tracy Akin, Jr.

William Tracy Akin Jr., 79, of Fishers, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1945 to William and Reba (Cook) Akin, Sr. in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army. Following a 29 year career as a telecommunications technician with Indiana Bell, Bill transitioned to an instrumentation and control career in the security automation industry. He volunteered for 20 years with the Fishers Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Indiana Air Search and Rescue. Bill volunteered with Indianapolis Hamfest for 50 years, with Indianapolis Carmel Experimenters, and with the American Red Cross. 

He is survived by his wife; Linda Akin, sons, William David (Marlita) Akin and Jon (Brandy) Akin; grandchildren, Jackson Akin, Adelaide Akin, and Jonathan Akin; and brother, David (Lana) Akin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the funeral home, with Pastor Nancy Lafferty officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
