On the morning of January 20, 2025, William Houston King passed away peacefully at the age of 87 while being attended to by the staff at Gentiva Hospice, Indianapolis and Wellbrooke of Westfield. Bill was born to Al and Wilma King in 1937 and lived in West Terre Haute, Indiana.
After receiving a bachelors degree from Indiana State, he began a career in banking which lasted over 30 years. In 1957 he joined Terre Haute First National Bank as a messenger and he stayed with the bank after his graduation in 1960. In 1965 Bill joined the Second National Bank of Richmond. He was promoted to trust officer in 1967, vice president and trust officer in 1969, vice president and senior trust officer in 1970, executive vice president in 1972, president in 1974, and chairman and chief executive officer in 1982. In 1987 Bill changed his career path from banker to state bankers association executive when he joined the Indiana Bankers Association. He was named president in 1988, and in 2000 he retired from the IBA.
After retiring Bill and Rachelle moved to Foley, Alabama and lived on the gulf coast for 18 years enjoying lots of sunshine, golf, travel, and friendships. They moved to Noblesville recently.
He is survived by his wife, Rachelle; children, Eric (Paulinea) and Kurt (Gabrielle); step-children, Tim (Lori) Crane and Heather (Joe) Pappas; eight grandchildren; brother, Larry; and nephew, Larry, Jr.
In addition to his parents, Bill was proceeded in death by his ex-wife, Delores.
