William worked as an engineer at Delco in Kokomo, Indiana. During that time he relocated to Noblesville to be closer to Morse Reservoir, where he found solace and joy in sailing the sailboat he built from a kit. Following his retirement from Delco, he spent memorable moments at Disney World, where he was fortunate to work at the GM ride in Epcot.
