William âBill' F. McVey, 91, of Westfield, passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on September 1, 1924 to Harlan and Docia (Simmerman) McVey in Kokomo, Indiana.
Bill was retired from Stony Creek Stone Company in Noblesville where he had worked for over 25 years. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, and was a WWII veteran, having received both a Bronze Star and Victory Medal. He was a member of First Christian Church in Noblesville, where he served as a Deacon. After retirement, Bill served as a volunteer transporter at Riverview Hospital; and was also employed with Noblesville Schools as a bus driver, where he particularly enjoyed driving sports teams to their events. As an avid golfer, Bill could often be found at Forest Park and Fox Prairie golf courses.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Arthur) Robinson and Valerie (Louis) Lang; grandchildren, Anne Robinson, Victoria Lang (Patrick) Collins, Alexander (Laura) Lang and Peter Lang; sister-in-law, Marilyn Purkey; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Frances McVey who passed away on July 25, 2016; an infant son, Timothy McVey; a brother, James McVey; and two sisters, Mary Palmer and Helen Hanner.
Services with burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Good Shepherd Chapel, 9700 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis, with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. Pastor John Davis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Noblesville Golf Program, c/o NHS Athletic Dept, 18111 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, IN 46060; or, First Christian Church of Noblesville Deacon Fund, 16377 Herriman Blvd., Noblesville, IN 46060.
