Patrick Ellery MacDonell, Esq. passed away on January 31, 2022, in Turks & Caicos as a result of a scuba diving accident. He was 32 years old.
A survivor of childhood leukemia, Patrick inspired many with his generous spirit, tender heart, and endless perseverance. His favorite times were spent with family, whether sitting around the table sharing food and conversation, embarking on trips and adventures, or hanging out with aunts, uncles, and cousins at annual Race Weekend reunions. His quick laugh and fierce loyalty were treasured by those who knew him well.
Patrick received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he sang with the Folk Choir. He went on to obtain a Master of Arts from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. He served as an attorney for the New York City Law Department and the Indiana Attorney General's office, and at the time of his death was preparing to begin a new role with a private law firm in Indianapolis.
Patrick is survived by his parents, Liz and Eldred; his brothers, Alec, Keith, and Keegan; and his sisters-in-law, Nicole and Emily.
