Mickey, we love you and will miss you. Your students were made much better because you were a part of their lives.
It's hard to loose someone so dear to so many in a family. Mickey loved and supported, not only her immediate family, but all the extended family attached. She was fun, caring, and an amazing grandmother. She made the world a better place, and it's sad to lose her presence in it. Dave, Ayla, Anna and I send our love to all the Nielsen's.
I am honored to have had Mickey in my and my family's life. She was my 4th grade teacher, but that was only the beginning of special friendship with a truly special lady. When visiting Woodbrook, I would always stop in to see her and I was inevitably greeted her smile. She always had time to catch up and offer much needed life advice (although she would often put me to work when doing so). The visits continued for 20+ years and would eventually include my wife and children who also adored her. You couldn't help but adore Mickey.
Perhaps my one memory that best typifies Mickey was was when my dad passed away. When she heard what had happened she called a friend for a ride because she needed to be there to help me an my family in our greatest time of sorrow. We did need her and that is a gift I can never repay (not that she would ever except repayment).
I do know she loved her family as it was often a favorite conversation topic, especially the accomplishment of her grandchildren. You have my deepest sympathy.
I know the world is not quite as bright or happy of a place without Mickey Nielsen. I will miss her.
Mickey had a great smile and laughed a lot I know Mom(Lois really loved her Niece
I haven't seen Mickey for a long time but what I remember is her infectious laugh. Her lilting laughter could light up a room. It was a gift shared with many. Now in my darkness it is the light of her laughter that shines. Thank you for sharing it with me.
Our deepest sympathies go out to you. Mickey was the best elementary teacher I ever had. She even had to put up with me twice (3rd and 5th grade). She will always be remembered as a loving and compassionate educator as well as a great friend and loving mother. I even called her Mom one day in class. She will be greatly missed.

We will all miss her but may the memories that mean the most to you live forever in your heart. .Wish we could be there but our warm and heartfelt thoughts are with you this week. Gubba Newa and varsa goo as Donna, Mickey and Arne would say. Then all would laugh. Love, Marianne .
