Obituary of Judith Sylvester

Judith "Judy" Ann (Pickett) Sylvester, age 90, of Noblesville, passed away October 28, at Maple Park Village in Westfield after a long battle with dementia. Judy was the daughter of Claude and Fannie Mae (Gatts) Pickett. She was born September 29, 1928.

Judy was gifted with a great sense of humor and she was also a very kind and generous person. Judy was a birthright Quaker and very proud of it. She loved to read, craft and watch the birds and squirrels. When she was younger she was the leader for a Methodist Youth Group, a Sunday school teacher and also a Boy Scout troop leader. Judy was also an animal lover but most of all she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandma. Judy married Charles Sylvester on April 21,1947. She was a stay at home mom while her children were small. Then the couple started Charlie's Bait, Tackle & Sporting Goods, which she managed while Charlie was working for the NFD and Talbert's Lumber. She had also been employed at Bland's Hardware, as a bookkeeper at G. C. Murphy's, Noblesville Jr. High school and she managed the Blue Ribbon Dairy for several years.

Judy is survived by a son, Michael Sylvester (Michele), Wichita KS; a daughter, Nancy Hernandez (Joe), Noblesville; grandchildren, Steven Sylvester, Mark Hernandez, Jason Hernandez and Emma Sylvester; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Sylvester and Alex Hernandez. She adored her grandkids; unfortunately, the dementia had taken over her life and she wasn't able to enjoy her great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sylvester in 2011 after 64 years of marriage; her parents; her only sibling, Robert Pickett; and a grandson, Gregory Hernandez.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with visitation from 12:00 pm to the time of service.  Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240; or the charity of your choice.
